When we first launched our business in 2018, we didn’t just set out to grow great medicinal cannabis, we decided to be different. Three years later, our business (and our crops) are growing like gangbusters.

Today on 420, we’re thinking back to our roots and where we come from. After State Question 788 opened up the brand-new cannabis industry in 2018, it gave everyone a chance to start fresh. We all got a blank slate. What should a dispensary or medicinal cannabis farm look like?

From the start, we talked to friends, colleagues, patients, and partners and set out to build the very best operation we possibly could. We toured grow facilities and equipment manufacturers around the country. In our first year, we tested lighting, nutrients, strains, wet or dry trim, cure time/temp, and collected as much data as we could before we designed and built the “Purpose Built Facility” (PBF).

In Q3-2019, we setup our Purpose Built Facility to produce the highest quality cannabis, at the highest efficiency (ie. Labor and Energy) and with the least environmental impact.

Many growers are new to farming and agriculture, relying 100% on “The Cannabis Bible” and little to no actual growing experience. These growers are learning from the school of hard knocks, the most expensive school in the industry.

A lot of people still have reservations about cannabis that have carried over from the days of illegal drug trade. Opinion are changing through testimonials, first hand experiences and learning the science that goes into producing the highest quality products.

Almost three years in, you will find that Rocking Star Farm has a brand that looks a little bit different. Our new website isn’t decorated with bright Rastafarian colors, goofy cartoons, or stoner-culture icons… there are plenty of great companies that have adopted that persona, but it’s not quite our style.

Instead, we wanted to create an identity that is accessible to both new patients and seasoned cannabis pros. Our home-grown brand emphasizes high quality, unique local tastes, and sustainable farming… and these days, that’s something a lot of patients are happy to get behind.
